System Improvement Webinar Series

LeadingAge Missouri is offering a six-part webinar series focused on federal regulatory requirements that are frequently cited on a national level in long-term care facilities.  Each webinar will provide an in-depth look at the specific regulation and help identify strategies for leveraging the regulatory requirements as the foundation for the development and sustainability of key systems and processes to improve quality of care and compliance.  This webinar is third in this series and covers F-314 Pressure Ulcers.

Overview

The F-tag related to Pressure Ulcers is cited when a facility fails to ensure that a resident who enters the facility without a pressure sore does not develop pressure sores unless the individual’s clinical condition demonstrates that they were unavoidable; and a resident having pressure sores receives necessary treatment and services to promote healing and prevent new sores from developing.  During this webinar, we will take a closer look at the regulatory language included in F314, review the Evidence Based Practice and guidelines supported by the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP), and review actual citations to help leverage a better understanding of how to maintain compliance with this key system.

Registrants will be given the opportunity to submit questions on the topic in advance of the program.

Learning Objectives

By the completion of the presentation, attendees will:

·Describe the elements of the F314 regulatory requirements in order to improve quality of care and compliance.

·Utilize the elements of the regulation to develop quality of care systems specific to the treatment of residents with potential and actual pressure ulcers.

·Identify strategies to sustain compliance with key systems and processes designed to identify residents with potential and actual skin breakdown, to include assessment, intervention, documentation, and care planning.
